How are teeth used to determine the diet of an animal?

I know that usually flat teeth indicate animals that eat plant matter, while sharp teeth indicate animals that eat meat.

However, iguanas have short, serrated, triangle-shaped (and definitely sharp, sharp enough to need stitches) teeth, and yet they are completely herbivorous. So, let’s say the iguana were extinct and we found its skull, how would we know it was a plant eater?

Is it much more complicated than just flat teeth vs. long teeth?

It is. Certain plants contain larger amounts of silica, and we can determine the amount of wear and tear on teeth due to this based on current animals in existence that eat similar plants.
Bone causes a different pattern, usually unique to carnivores and omnivores.
Jaw structure is also a giveaway.

How many teeth does your 15 month old have?

My daughter has been really slow to get teeth. At 15 months, she only has her four front top teeth, and her four front bottom teeth. I’m not worried about it (and neither is her pediatrician), but I’m just curious, because my son had all his teeth by 15 months. How many teeth does your 15 month old have?

She has 7. Four bottom and three top.

Does a smile showing teeth look better then a smile without showing teeth in pictures?

I don’t like showing my teeth so always smile without and was planning to do that for my graduation today, however I am being told a smile with teeth showing looks better! What do you all think?

Short answer – it depends on the smile.

Does it look "forced" in the pic? I shoot people all the time that can smile and laugh naturally but once you point a camera at them they get all stiff and unnatural.

Try several shots – one closed mouthed, one with a slight smirk, one with a smile, and one with a laugh.. pick the one that you think most captures your spirit.

There is no such thing as a "right" way to look in a photograph… just be natural and yourself and I’m sure it’ll be great.

What is the best teeth whitening for sensitive teeth?

I’ve used Crest white strips but they kill my teeth. I would really like a fairly reasonable way to whiten my teeth since they are in desperate need of whitening. Any suggestions?

I smoked for quite a few years. After I quit, I wanted to whiten my teeth. My dentist told me to use this teeth whitening kit. It worked great and I appreciate not having to spend a fortune.

How bad do teeth usually get after a pregnancy?

My teeth have gotten really bad in this pregnancy, i heurd that some women’s teeth even rot.How bad do teeth usually get after a pregnancy, and is it normal?
Are my teeth problems pregnancy related?

well, there are a few reasons your teeth tend to go south during pregnancy and after. the chemical composition of many many systems in your body has changed and this includes your saliva. this being said, you’re more prone to cavities due to the change in your saliva. your gums also become super super sensitive.

did you know that most dental insurance companies will approve 2-3 extra cleanings while you’re pregnant vs one every six months? call your dental insurance and see if yours does.

also, your baby’s bones are growing soo rapidly right now and your baby is sapping so much calcium from you as well to build their strong healthy bones. think of it this way, when we break a bone, it takes around 6 weeks for the body to rebuild it. that’s just a BREAK! your baby is growing by leaps and bounds week by week which means your body is working over time for 40 weeks to keep up with their growth for an entire skeletal system! that’s probably 100 times more work than simply healing a break or fracture.

just make sure to take extra precaution. brush 3 times a day instead of 2, floss frequently, rinse well, and drink plenty of milk (milk is not the only source of calcium btw. look up other sources if you’re not a fan of milk like me).
