Come to San Miguel De Allende Mx – Live Among the Wealthy

Are you happy there, in Mexico? Everyone who is new to this country asks this. As I think about this question while sitting in an outdoor cafe in my San Miguel de Allende, Mx, I really wonder what causes people to ask this one question so many times.   You have to learn another language and learn how to do things and navigate differently. There have been many moments in dealing with life here that I have acted like a child, wanting to throw myself on the ground, throw a tantrum and kick and scream, for not understanding. But most of the time I am truly happy and love being here.

I can truthfully say that, not always do I like it here. As I walk through the streets of San Miguel Mx, there are things that I do not like. I hate that my family lives so far away. I hate the programing on television here, and the litter that everyone leaves everywhere. It is true, this country has many problems, but it also has many joys.

There is much more to San Miguel de Allende Mx. than first meets the eye. I enjoy the slower pace of life, I love the fact that everyone knows each other, and that everyone smiles, and offers the famous Buenos dias (good morning). I love the historical surroundings, the weather, the people, and the smiling faces. I love the fact that your day is never boring, something is always going on, there is something new to experience every single day.

Everyone offers something, and everyone tries to help each other, and that is special here in San Miguel de allende.

You are so right about the delightfully slower pace in San Miguel de Allende and the fact that there is always something to do… even though that “something” might be nothing much.

It’s so pleasant and interesting to just sit on a bench in the Jardin and do nothing but watch the world go by. Or sit in the sunny patio at the library and do nothing but peruse a book or magazine or chat with friends. Or wander through the open-air “Tuesday Market” doing nothing but checking out the low prices on a kilo of tomatoes, a second-hand cashmere sweater or a CD of mariachi music.
